Congratulations to Tanner Reichel, who received a Lovis Hero Award on June 11th from the Lovis Foundation for his outstanding service and generosity! He is one of 34 young people across the nation to receive the 2026 honor.
Instead of celebrating his 17th birthday in a traditional way, Tanner chose to make a difference in the lives of others. He organized a birthday kit collection to help ensure that individuals facing financial challenges could still experience the joy of celebrating their special day. The kits included cake mix, frosting, soda (as a substitute for eggs), plates, napkins, birthday banners, and a small card game. Tanner donated the kits to the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Cougar Den, where he also had the opportunity to personally distribute some of the kits to students while being interviewed about the project. Choosing to share his project with the community college was a natural fit because Tanner takes dual enrollment courses there through the Career and College Promise partnership CCA has with CCCC.
