The Eagle Classic brings together CCA families, community members, local businesses, and friends for a great day of golf while supporting CCA students and programs.

The CCA Theatre Arts program’s annual spring production in 2026 is a play, Robin Hood and His Merry Men. This version of the well-known story set in medieval times is a comedy. Director Kristee McCusker, Assistant Director Michael Jones, and nearly 30 middle and high school students have been preparing since the fall, beginning with auditions and continuing through an extensive rehearsal and costume development stage.
The school community and the general public are invited to attend the show on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18, at 7:00 p.m. Life Springs Church, located at 3215 Keller-Andrews Road in Sanford (map) has graciously agreed for the performances to be on its site again. Admission is $10 cash at the door.

The CCA choral program will host a choir member showcase on Wednesday, February 11, at 7:00 pm in school cafeteria. The school community and public are invited to hear select choir members singing favorite love songs. Admission is $3.
Auditions were held the week of February 2nd. High school students who have taken or are currently taking a CCA chorus class are eligible to participate. Contact chorus teacher Riley Bohn for additional information.

PTO Spirit Nights
The PTO sponsors Spirit Nights throughout the school year to assist school groups, clubs, and organizations with fundraising. Area restaurants partner with PTO and give portions of the proceeds to the featured group. There are two Spirit Nights in Sanford this month. The second, at Arby’s on Tuesday, December 16, will be from 4:00 pm until closing. Mention CCA when placing an your order. A previous Spirit Night was held at La Dolce Vita on December 10th.
CCA Cheerleaders Spirit Night
Support the CCA cheerleaders at Bubba’s Subs & Pizza (1932 S Horner Blvd, Sanford) on Thursday, December 18, from 4:00-8:30 pm during a special Spirit Night. All proceeds and tips will go directly to the cheerleading program. There will be a special guest appearance by The Grinch with a chance for fun photo ops.

Winter Choral Concert
The high school choir performed seasonal songs on Thursday evening, December 10, in the nearby First Baptist Church chapel. This was the first concert by the up and coming choral music program. Selections included Journey the Night, Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy, Winter Wonderland, Snow, Variations on Jingle Bells, and Winter.

On Thursday, March 6, students from Central Carolina Academy attended the NC TIES “Let the Good Ties Roll” conference at the Raleigh Convention Center. As selected participants in the prestigious Student Showcase, CCA was one of only 26 groups from across North Carolina invited to present their innovative project.
Roll with the Good Times: A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
The CCA Student Showcase booth featured three interactive educational games titled Roll with the Good Times: A Choose Your Own Adventure Game. Designed by CCA’s talented 6th graders, this project helps students understand, review, and practice classroom concepts across multiple subjects in an engaging and dynamic way. The interactive format allows learners to explore different pathways, reinforcing knowledge through gamified lessons.
The students who contributed to the showcase included Tripp Smith, Cameron Brinson, Connor Campion, Jackson Pyles, Allen Bryant, Brantley Bryant, Chris McLaughlin, Kylie Wester, and Cayden Johnson. Their participation was guided by teacher Sheila Hargrove, who organized and prepared the group for this exciting opportunity.
A Hands-On Learning Experience
At the conference, attendees had the opportunity to interact with the game through demo stations, allowing them to experience firsthand how immersive learning can enhance classroom engagement. By integrating technology and interactive storytelling, the students demonstrated how educational games can make learning more effective and enjoyable for their peers.
CCA’s involvement in the NC TIES conference highlights the school’s commitment to innovative education and student-driven learning experiences. The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their creativity, collaboration, and technical skills while gaining valuable experience in presenting their work to a wider audience.

Central Carolina Academy had a successful spring theatrical production in the spring of 2024 as the school neared the end of its second year. The 2025 spring will feature a musical, The Little Mermaid. The fall call had 40 middle and high school students audition. The total production will require a cast of 24, a need for 13 backstage support individuals, and a chorus with 25 participants.
The musical production which will be at Life Springs Church in Sanford on May 2 & 3, 2025. Save the dates, and stay tuned for additional information as the performance dates near. English/theatre teacher Kristy McCusker will once again coordinate the spring production and will be assisted by theatre teacher Michael Jones.

CCA is participating in the College Foundation of North Carolina’s (CFNC) annual College Application Week October 21-27. Seniors can submit applications to select North Carolina colleges/universities for free through the CFNC website. Members of the Class of 2025 have taken advantage of the opportunity in addition to other institutions they have been applying to this semester. During College Application Week they are also learning about highlights of area universities and winning prizes through daily trivia questions with College Liaison Allison Brown.
CCA also had another “first” during College Application Week when its first senior received college acceptances. Anastasia Danforth was notified by East Carolina University and UNC Greensboro on Tuesday that she had been accepted at both schools, including the Lloyd International Honors College at UNCG. Twelve of the 26 seniors have already completed applications, and the majority of the others are in the process of applying to schools they have researched and have interest in.
