Juniors and seniors have opportunities to explore the college world through college campus tours, visits with college representatives, and individual advising with CCA College Liaison Allison Brown and CCCC advisor Jennifer Babb. They get a real life experience through their college classes, many of which are on the main campus of Central Carolina Community College in Sanford. The NC Career and College Promise (CCP) allows them to take transferable college courses for dual credit (high school and college) while in high school. Juniors and some seniors have taken advantage of college tours to area campuses including Campbell, NC A&T, UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke, and NC State. Seniors are closing in on their final decisions for college and have enjoyed sharing acceptances and scholarships they have received with their friends, families, and staff. Sophomores get two chances to experience a college campus during the spring semester. The March Family Night at CCCC introduces their families to the CCP program the students will start in August. The students return in April on a field trip to CCCC for a Career Expo. All of the efforts are part of CCA’s comprehensive plan to help its students be the best prepared for high school and post-secondary success.
