Protect Our Students Act

Session Law 2023-128/HB142 Required Videos

As part of Central Carolina Academy’s ongoing commitment to student safety and well-being, students in grades six (6) through twelve (12) will view age-appropriate safety videos provided by the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools during the first five (5) days of the 2026–2027 school year. These videos are designed to help students recognize and understand the warning signs of adult misconduct—including grooming behaviors—and to encourage them to seek help and report any concerns.

In accordance with Session Law 2023-128 (HB142) and North Carolina General Statute G.S. 115C-105.57(2a), all public schools are required to show these educational videos annually. The purpose is to increase awareness among students, staff, and families about the signs of potentially harmful adult behavior and to support a culture of safety, trust, and open communication within the CCA community.

While the videos depict scenarios involving school staff, the underlying message is broader. The intent is to help students remain aware and informed in all settings and with any adult they may encounter—not just at school.

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping make Central Carolina Academy a safe and supportive environment for all students. If you have any questions, please contact the Head of School.
